Lands End to Mabe Burnthouse (The Flicka Foundation)
On Saturday 24th August 2019, Barrie Howell from Owl Locksmiths and Security will be doing a non-supported sponsored walk.
All money raised will be split between our two chosen charities

We have chosen:
The Flicka Foundation because they rescue abandoned and neglected Donkeys, many of which are sick and injured due to the inhumane actions of humans. We also believe that the Donkeys deserve safety, security, care and our love and some of these poor animals also need constant ongoing medical care.
With the spiralling costs of medical treatments, The Flicka Foundation aim to build a second-to-none medical treatment facility on their site to allow the treatment of their own animals and that of other animals in need as and when required.
We have supported this wonderful charity for the past few years and wish to continue helping these adorable animals and in the process help the Flicka Foundation achieve their goal.

Cornwall Air Ambulance is a charity that any one of us could need at any time in our lives. The statistics are impressive and speak for themselves:
- 28,219 missions since 2017,
- 74 missions so far this year @ April 08th.
They are in the process of raising funds for new helicopter to continue their work. As part of this, Owl Locksmiths and Security have chosen to support their fundraising efforts as they aim to raise a total of £2.5 million pounds for the new helicopter by 2020.

The Walk:
I have broken the walk down to 5 stages to allow for short breaks. I intend to start the walk from the signpost at Lands End at 05.00 hrs, (5am) and walk via the South West Coastal Path to The Flicka Foundation donkey sanctuary site at Mabe Burnthouse, TR10 9JB near Falmouth.
Stage1: 05.00 hrs – 07.00 hrs of the walk is approximately 5 miles. I will start at Lands End and head south past Porthcurno and onto the Minack Theatre. This is expected to take approximately 2hrs. If needed I will stop for about 15 minutes for a cuppa before stating
Stage 2: 07.00 hrs – 11.00 hrs this is approximately 8 miles and should take approximately 4 hours staying on the coast path and going past Lamorna, Castallack and finishing at Mousehole around 11.00 hrs. Depending on how I feel, I might have a short break of no longer than 30 minutes for a coffee bite to eat (cake) before heading off again.
Stage 3: 11.30 hrs – 15.30 hrs. This is approximately 7 miles and I will pass through Newlyn and onto Penzance staying on the coast path. Once out of Penzance, I will continue through to Marazion where I intend to stop off for about 1 hour at the Copper Kettle for a late lunch.
Stage 4: 16.30 hrs – 22.00 hrs. This is approximately 11 miles from Marazion to Porthleven. Staying on the coast path to Maen-Du-Point just south of Perranuthnoe before heading onto Cudden Point, Prussia Cove, Kenneggy Sand, Hoe Point then onto Praa Sands. From here I intend to continue south of Rinsey to Pothleven where I will take at least a 30 minute break on the grass opposite the front of Kota Kai restaurant.
Stage 5: 22.30 hrs – 04.00 hrs. This is also about 11 miles. From Porthleven, its inland via the B3304 to Helston. Then staying on the A394 Helston to Falmouth road up as far as Longdowns. I`ll then turn right onto Antron Hill just past the petrol station and speed camera. After about 400 yards its right onto Trenoweth lane to finish off at The Flicka Foundation donkey sanctuary site.
All times and distances are estimated so between the hours of 08.00 and 20.00 hrs I will update Sharon on my progress so anyone interested in joining me for a part of it can check with her for my location on 07503 985 947.
The walk is due to take place as above unless extreme weather or other unforeseen issues arise In the event that the date is changed, then the walk will take place at the earliest Saturday possible and all changes will be published as stated.
