Here at Owl Locksmiths and Security, if required, we can fully install new “internal” doors and fit the door locks and any furniture required.
For this job in Falmouth we fitted a large factory with 7 brand new fire doors and all the furniture to them. In the first few photos, the old basic wooden internal doors have been removed and new heavy fire doors fitted into the original frames.

The doors were then fitted with various locking devices as seen. One door was fitted with the crash bar Push To Exit Fire Escape kit complete with an external access device as seen in photos 6 and 7, while a couple of the other doors were fitted with a more tradition locking device in the form of a British Standard High Security Mortice Sashlocks (with handles) and Mortice Deadlocks (without handles).
It must be noted that normally in buildings used by the public or employees such as this factory, euro cases with egress thumbturns would normally be fitted and not UK key mortice locks, but due to operational reasons, permission was granted for standard key mortice locks to be fitted.
At the top of the doors but not pictured, we had to fit replacement Overhead Door Closers as shown on the floor in picture 5.
The fitting of the doors is generally left to that of the carpenter or similar trade, but, in the event that a carpenter is not available, it is good to know that the complete service is available if the need arises.

It should be noted however, that with fire doors, strict legal requirements are in place, so when choosing a door and its fittings, the correct parts must be used which includes the hinges locks and any other item required. It is not just a case of fitting the door into the hole and walking away. We can offer advice and assistance when it comes to the locking devices or panic hardware, but for other general fire safety requirements, we suggest seeking out the services of a competent Fire Safety Representative or go direct to the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service for up to date information.
NOTE – Please realise that generally we only fit the parts once the door is hung as it is too time consuming for us to fit the door as well. However, in this Falmouth case, the carpenter was unavailable and so an exception was made.
