A home needs securing after a serious incident near Truro
Unfortunately, it is still a fact of life that Domestic Violence is still rife. Here at Owl Locksmiths and Security we are having to deal with home security issues related to this issue.
Recently, we had another such case in Tressilian, just outside of Truro in the very early morning.
The house had been “trashed”, then the lady’s partner had fled. After a while the offender returned and tried to get back into the property but found he was locked out. He then forced entry and after inflicting serious harm to the lady, ransacked the property again causing more significant damage before once again fleeing.
The Police arrived and then requested our attendance to secure the property as best we could and where possible make repairs.
We were limited due to finances available as is often the case unfortunately. The internal damage although considerable, was not for us to deal with, we were to ensure that all external routes into the home were secured.
The Large Bathroom Upvc Window Unit had been forced with the internal mechanism and the handle removed with damage to the window frame. Our immediate solution was to fit non-locking bolts to prevent the window being opened from the outside. Photos (6-8).
Luckily the front door was relatively intact, but the frame was badly split and required a full replacement. As a temporary measure, the frame was strengthened using a bar specifically made for such jobs. We would have liked to fully replace the old and “useless” nightlatch (commonly known as a Yale Lock) but as mentioned costs dictated otherwise. Photos (9 to 12).
Above the nightlatch, an access restricting device was fitted so at least that would add some degree of security for the occupant before the repairs could be carried out. Photos (13 and 14).
