Many people require options for different situations. This customer required some basic access control fitted to the doors of her guest house but funds were an issue and so was convenience.
We suggested that she fit basic push button mechanical digital locks which would fit over the existing mortice sashlocks. The original codelocks suggested were not the ones subsequently fitted and pictured but the customer decided to spend extra and have the locks fitted. The doors were stained rather than painted so once we had completed our task she would completely re-stain each door and cover the area that was left by the old handles.
We firstly removed the old brass flat plate handles and unfortunately we found that the locks already fitted would not support the coded locks chosen meaning our customer had to change them causing a little extra un-planned expense. The new mortice locks were fitted with a slight alteration due to a slight size difference, then the coded handles fitted over them.
For safety and fire regulations, the coded side was only on the outside of the door.
To exit, you just have to operate the handles as normal but to enter you would have to possess the correct code. Because the code only locks off the latch section, you can still lock off the actual motice bolt with the use of a key. This was an ideal solution for our customer and is working very well.
For whatever situation you may have, there is a solution for you.
