Its is an unfortunate fact that when times are tight in the society, it has a knock on effect by increasing illegal activities such as Burglaries.
So with this in mind, the big question is where YOUR security is adequate. Owl will help you find the best garage security solutions.
Here we are looking at garages and what can be done to increase security as many households use their garage to store their possession that are often rather expensive to replace.
If the Garage has one entry point, the Up and Over garage door or a Roller Shutter type door, then the best solution would be to fit an external security device. On the Up and Over door, we use a garage defender (Pic`s 5, 6, 7). The base is heavily bolted to a solid base on the out side of the garage and then the unit is padlocked to that base. It prevents the opening of the garage door. Normally you only use 1 in the centre, but if there is a high risk then we advise fitting one at each end so that the door cannot be bent up or out at the ends to allow access.
If you have a Roller Shutter type door, then we can fit a similar device (Pic`s 1, 2, 3, 4). The difference is that this defender is bolted to the roller shutter door and then a base unit again is fixed to the ground and then the two locate and lock together. Generally there is no need to use two as the door runs in a channel so it is far more difficult to pull the door out at the ends.
With either option, the will be a need to do some work to fit the base bracket. In the Roller Shutter as pictured, the ground was soft so the base had to be created out of concrete. But if the base is already strong enough, then little needs to be done.
