In the early hours of May 18th 2020, Falmouth Town Council were yet again the target of thieves.
At around 04.00 hrs, thieves gained illegal entry to the Mortuary grounds and council staff buildings at Swanpool Hill near Swanpool stealing various items used by the grounds and maintenance staff including a ride on mower, pressure washers, hand tools and a trailer amongst other items.
One of the maintenance team also had some personal equipment taken which he will have to replace at his own personal so it is hoped that all the items are covered by insurance.
They also removed number plates from a vehicle parked on the grounds and a number of keys for other council sites around the town.
At 09.00 hrs, Simon Penner from Falmouth Town Council called to request that we attend and undertake a number of lock changes at various locations starting with the Mortuary at Swanpool where the majority of the items had been removed.
Fortunately for Simon and the council, over the past 6 or more years, we have been upgrading the security on many of their sites including the council offices at the Municipal Building, the Art gallery and the town library on the Moor and many satellite buildings around the town making thefts from these buildings that much more difficult.
We have fitted high security locks which are insurance approved.
When these are incorporated with the CCTV and Intruder Alarm systems it provides a very strong deterrent in deed.
