It is an unfortunate sign of the times but here at Owl Locksmiths and Security we are having to undertake more and more evictions and repossessions in Cornwall for a variety of customers both agents and private persons and for a number of reasons.
This year, the amount of evictions has trebled from that of 2017 and last year saw an increase on the previous years so the future for many looks bleak.
The majority of evictions and repossessions end up as lock changes for security. These could be a rental property where tenants have either vacated without returning the keys or have not paid rent or bills whether due to refusal or simply do not have the means. In some cases they have caused damage to the property prior to leaving which I personally find ridiculous as this achieves nothing other than to cause further hardship and in many cases a criminal record against them.
In addition to domestic properties, we also carry out evictions and repossessions for commercial properties. Personally, this is mentally hard as you know that someone has worked hard, putting everything they have mentally, physically and financially into their business which has failed, so often through no fault of their own.
This is definitely a part of the job we here at Owl Locksmiths and Security don’t like doing but in the same way we realise that it is an unfortunate requirement and a necessity of today’s way of life.
