We have just attended a lock failure at the Trinity Lighthouse down on the Lizard Peninsula.
The weather is great so the drive down was a real pleasure, well worth a trip for anyone who has not been down there.
Anyway, the clients were having troubles operating a euro cylinder in a wooden door lock case. We stripped out the lock and investigated the fault which was not a serious one to rectify.
Due mainly to the weather conditions there, the 6 year old cylinder had failed and required replacing. It was fortunate that the lock case had not failed as the ones fitted are specialist and would have had to be ordered from Germany meaning a delay.
After servicing the lock case and then greasing the internal parts, we fitting a replacement cylinder which had to be of the emergency escape type known as key & turn and that was the job done. We were on site a relatively short time, maybe 60 minutes from start to finish.
