Last night, whilst the majority of Cornwall was fast asleep, we were out again in the early hours in Truro attending a board-up and make secure task for Devon and Cornwall Police.
Over the past few weeks we have attended a number of similar jobs for people whether the emergency services or private customers albeit domestic or commercial properties.
After a callout at 03.45 hours and getting in a 07.00 hours we were out again at 10.00 hours today and have just returned from another such task, this time in Charlestown right near the old quayside due to an emergency entry by the police. As we never actually know what we will find or know exactly what is to be done, we are always prepared carrying enough board and batten to complete most jobs on the first trip.
In addition to these, we have attended another 4 such jobs one of which was a board and secure of a private domestic that had been gutted by fire. This was slightly different as with some of the police calls it is a crime scene so care has to be taken to preserve evidence.
It is not only criminal activity that requires a boarding service, many institutions such as banks, property agents and insurance companies require vacant properties to be boarded and often checked on a regular basis.
So until the next time, if you were one of the probably many people that get woken at very early o`clock by the sound of our jig saws, we do apologise (a little) anyway!
