A couple of weeks ago, we posted about a hotel needing a lock fitted to the front door after closing its doors to the public and a holiday property with glued locks.
Well, unfortunately, we have had to undertake a burglary repair and lock replacement on a local pub near St Ives after it was targeted by thieves.
The pub like so many other properties are empty at the moment, no landlords living on the premises, no staff running around and obviously no customers so definitely no deterrents to burglars.
Unfortunately, to make matters worse, this particular pub is out of town a bit so there are also no neighbours to keep an eye.
The thieves attempted to break into one of the property out buildings where the bulk of the stock was normally kept but despite a fair amount of damage being caused to both the locks and the door carcass no actual entry was managed. The building however had very minimal stock left inside so even if access had been gained they would not have managed to take much but still, the damage caused to find that out was still considerable.
The second door they tried they were more successful, managing to access the ground floor of the pub itself. Again, the exercise proved pointless as everything that could be removed for safe keeping had been, so nothing was taken and the only thing they would have achieved was again to damage the locks fitted.
On the first out building door, the old locking devices were removed and replacements fitted. In the door itself, new high security mortice dead locks were fitted and then on the outside a replacement Padbar was fitted with a hefty padlock as extra security at the same time. The padbar was fitted with security screws meaning that should they try to remove them from the doors it will prove very difficult indeed.
On the second door, we managed to repair the lock and the panic bar kit already fitted which was lucky for the customer as this would have been a very expensive item to replace.
