As you already know we get to do some weird and wonderful jobs being a legalised burglar, but today we were at one of our regular customers properties in Redruth to pick 12 lockers open where the keys had been lost over time.
The Green is one of Cornwall Cares homes for people with dementia and other mental health needs. With high, vaulted ceilings and a proper old fashioned shop, The Green is a welcoming and friendly home. Comfortable and relaxing, there is a real sense of calm within the building. Externally, the home has an enclosed courtyard with raised flower beds and a fish pond. This area provides a centre for parties and entertainment as well as offering peace and tranquillity on quieter days.
However, in the staff rest area are their lockers and a number of them have keys missing. We were called in to get the lockers open without the need to damage them. In just 20 minutes we managed to get all 12 lockers open but the job of changing the locks was left to their own maintenance team.
The job would have taken less time but as normal, there was the one compulsory stubborn lock that had to take a lot longer than all the rest. We can get most locks open, bank vaults being one sort we cannot and many of these we do not have to damage.
If you find a lock that has no keys, it is always worth contacting us first before doing damage to the lock yourself. In order to get the lock open successfully, you must have a good understanding of how it works first.
