This morning we have had a call from Dave Jago from Cornwall Shop Fitters regarding a failed safe at Warrens Bakeries in St Ives.
Unfortunately the staff were unable to get the safe open despite the fact that it had been opened earlier in the day and we were called to see what we could do.
We have undertaken work before Dave but direct for his own company, never for Warrens Bakeries so it was doubly important that this job went well both for ourselves and also for him.
We found that the safe top had not been replaced correctly and this was preventing the key from manipulating the actual lock so the first task was to either remove the lid in full or at least get it straight again. We managed to get the lid straight with a bit of huffing and puffing and then we discovered that the actual lock was also faulty. However, it did not take us much time before we got it open without damage, but due to the age and its condition the lock will have to be replaced.
Owl Locksmiths and Security are not safe specialists and we do not pretend to be, however, we will attend a job if we believe that it is within our capabilities and we will attend any job if specifically requested by the customer.
We generally deal with domestic safes and the smaller commercial safes. We often get calls regarding larger commercial safes but we have to either pass them on or sub contract the jobs out. Either way, it is well worth giving us a call.
On average, a professional safe specialist will normally charge anything from £160.00 to £250.00 per hour so it might well be worth calling someone like ourselves out initially just in case. If you can either text or email us some photos first then we are often able to point you in the right direction and it does not cost you a penny.
