A HSBC customer recently had a red face after he drove into a parking space outside the bank but did not see a post with the electric push pad to open the main door and subsequently ran into it and caused a fair bit of damage.
Although the post was partially pulled from the ground, ripping up the tarmac and pulling the securing bolts out of the base unit, the only other damage was internally as the wiring was damaged. The post itself was slightly dented which was gently beaten back out, but the cabling within it for the electric pad was also damaged too much and had to be replaced.
After we re-laid the area with cement and the replacement base section arrived, we bolted the unit back into place. We then gave the post a quick re-wire and the unit was bank in business.
Let us hope that this does not happen again.
